Wendy Cunningham has always had an interest in health, and when she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease at the age of 21, though thankful for the “traditional” medicine that saved her life, she was discouraged by the limited options for her long-care treatment plan. “That is when I really started exploring the world of ‘alternative’ and holistic health,” she remembers. “I wanted to figure out the root cause of my illness instead of just controlling the symptoms for the rest of my life.” Upon doing her own research, Wendy realized that there were a variety of modalities that worked for her — not just one thing. She tasked herself with learning as much as she could about chiropractic, acupuncture, exercise, nutrition, functional lab testing, supplements, stress control, and more. Wendy, who graduated from chiropractic school in 2003, opened Hayden Health & Wellness in 2010 so that she could help others do the same.

“Health is so much more than the absence of disease,” Wendy reminds. “Holistic care is an approach that treats the whole person rather than just focusing on specific symptoms or ailments. It takes into account all the various aspects of an individual's health — including physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.”

At Hayden Health & Wellness, Wendy and her team are proud to offer a variety of modalities to help patients achieve their best health — all under one roof. From chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy, nutrition counseling, whole-food supplements and herbal therapies, to medical thermography and low-level laser therapy (lasers for both pain and body contouring), their comprehensive approach allows for a broader range of treatment options tailored to individual needs.

“A large part of what we do is educating the patient on making changes to their diet and lifestyle that will lead to better health,” Wendy affirms. “It’s about empowering the patient to take ownership of their health.”

All ages are welcome at Hayden Health & Wellness. As Wendy states, “Ideally, we want to start early and focus on prevention rather than just treating symptoms once they arise. By addressing underlying imbalances and promoting healthy lifestyle choices, the goal is to prevent illnesses and promote overall well-being for a lifetime.”

So much of Wendy’s work requires a true partnership with her patients to achieve optimal health outcomes, providing highly personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s unique health goals, preferences and circumstances. “Holistic health care is empowering,” notes Wendy. “I feel like more and more people want to be self-reliant and take an active role in their health.”

Wendy’s primary goal is to educate patients on how to help themselves with nutrition, exercise, lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques and self-care.

When it comes to what Wendy finds most rewarding, she says it is witnessing people regain their health and get back to doing the things they love. “I love when we see a patient make changes and really take ownership of their lifestyle and choices and reap all the benefits that allows.”
