Helping clients turn goals into plans—and plans into results
Ryan Chapman still remembers the first time compound interest clicked. He was a grade-schooler, leafing through one of his grandfather’s investment magazines, when he realized money could potentially grow over time, if you gave it the right place to work. That spark set a lifelong trajectory. Today, the fourth-generation Coeur d’Alene native is a local financial advisor at Stifel Financial, turning that childhood curiosity into hands-on guidance for neighbors who want their dollars working just as hard as they do.
Chapman’s route to Stifel was anything but accidental. “From a young age, I learned the power of investing,” he recalls. “With this lesson, I was very fortunate to find exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up, and that was to become a financial advisor.” Knowing his destination before he even filled out a college application, he chose every course with purpose—economics, finance, portfolio theory—while many classmates were still undecided about their major.
After graduation, Chapman landed at Raymond James and Associates as an operational specialist. “Here I was able to learn from six great financial advisors and their associates,” he says. “It was at Raymond James where I learned all the administrative tasks that go into helping a client manage their investments. I was able to work with clients directly, which helped me learn hands-on how to provide white glove service.” The experience was priceless, but when the opportunity arose to join Stifel as a full-fledged advisor in his hometown, he seized it.
Ask him what keeps the work exciting, and he points immediately to the people. “What I find most rewarding about working with clients in Coeur d’Alene is that I get to learn all about their individual careers, life experiences, and goals for the future,” Chapman says. “I’ve met so many wonderful people and getting to know them helps me design strategies around their financial goals.”
That personal connection shapes his entire approach. “By understanding my clients beyond just account values, I can create a plan tailored to their specific needs, wants, and wishes,” he explains. “It’s not just about numbers—it’s about serving real people with real goals.”
Chapman emphasizes the unique structure of Stifel — a distinction that gives financial advisors like him the freedom to focus solely on what’s best for their clients. Without pressure to push specific products, he can offer truly personalized investment planning, drawing from a full suite of services that include everything from retirement strategies to long-term legacy planning while working with your accountant and attorney.
That level of flexibility is matched by his strong commitment to integrity. Chapman prioritizes the best interests of every client he serves. His local roots influence his approach, combining the relationship-driven values of a small town with the advanced resources of a full-service financial institution.
When he’s not reviewing portfolios, Chapman stays involved locally through the local Rotary Club and looks forward to expanding his work with community organizations and charities.
In a world where algorithm-driven guidance is a click away, Ryan Chapman’s blend of hometown roots and institutional strength offers something refreshingly human.
