North Idaho’s Auction Professionals

Bid on the best in home improvement liquidation items

By Jillian Chandler

2021 introduced a new business to North Idaho—Tamarack Auctions in Coeur d’Alene! Owners Ryan Cox, Kiersten Cox and Kyle Flory have been going strong since opening the doors to their auction company, which offers liquidation home improvement items from some of your favorite stores—like Home Depot and Lowe’s. Buyers will find a wide range of items such as cabinets, flooring, tile, tools, lawn and garden, and so much more!

“The fun part of this is we only have a general idea of what will come in our truckloads. We usually get a few ‘big ticket’ items that can be anything from appliances to large quantities of high-quality flooring material and more. We're always looking into new avenues to keep this fun and exciting for all of our customers!” says Kyle.

Since day one, the team has been hard working, persistent and transparent, which they strongly believe has led to the fast success of Tamarack Auctions. Integrity is also an integral part of their business plan. “We feel that our customers can see that we really care about always trying to do the right thing. We want this to be a pleasurable experience for anyone and everyone who wants to do business with us,” shares Ryan.

When a shipment arrives, the team makes sure to thoroughly inspect every single item they receive to ensure their customers are aware of exactly what they are getting when bidding on an item.

Kyle and Ryan met while in elementary school in Bonners Ferry and have remained best friends since the third grade. When Ryan met Kiersten, the two would later marry, Kyle and she quickly became great friends as well. Ryan and Kiersten, who have been avid auction-goers for as many years, saw a huge opportunity to start something in the area, choosing Coeur d’Alene as its home base. “When they moved back up to North Idaho from Boise, they pursued me about this auction idea and asked if I wanted to be a part of it,” Kyle recalls. “I love pursuing side business ventures, so I was on board! I felt it was a great opportunity to build something new and exciting with great friends.”

The goal at Tamarack Auctions is to hold an auction every three weeks, each beginning on a Friday and ending the following Friday at 7pm. According to Kyle, it is a “soft close” auction, so the ending of the auction can take a couple hours going through all of the items, with pickup held the following day (Saturday). “This is when everyone who won an item can come pick up!”

Mark your calendars for their next auction, which takes place June 4 through 11. Currently, all of their auctions are held online only through the service HiBid, though they do have future plans to hold one or two live auctions a year.

Ryan, Kiersten and Kyle are thankful to call North Idaho home and grateful to have the opportunity to own a business here with the purpose of serving their local community. “North Idaho is such an incredible place,” affirms Kyle. “It is so amazing to meet all of the local community members throughout our various auctions. We feel that we fill an important niche that was not previously here, and we are excited to continue to grow and become more established in the community.”

“And we are eager to be able to give back to the community as we grow,” adds Kiersten.
