Newby-ginnings: When Love and Loss Become Action
The story behind a nonprofit serving those who have served

ewby-ginnings of North Idaho, Inc. was founded by Theresa Hart, a mother whose life was forever changed when her son, Nick, was killed in action in Baghdad, Iraq. In the aftermath of that loss, Theresa needed a way to carry forward the love, responsibility, and identity that came with being Nick’s mom. What began in her home as a small effort to help Nick’s struggling battle buddies became the foundation for a mission rooted in service, dignity, and action.
Over the past 12 years, Newby-ginnings has grown fivefold into a full-scale support program serving Veterans, Active-Duty Service Members, and Gold Star Families throughout North Idaho and the Inland Northwest. The organization provides personal and household essentials, food, medical equipment, and access to trusted resources and referrals—always at no cost. The goal is to reduce immediate stress and fill critical gaps so individuals and families can focus on stability and well-being rather than survival. Every service reflects a simple belief: no one who has served, or lost someone who served, should ever have to choose between basic needs and dignity ....

North Ridge Contracting / North Ridge Homes builds fully custom homes, never variations of a standard plan. Based in Coeur d’Alene and serving North Idaho, Dale and Jessica Cargile focus exclusively on fully custom design-build projects, remaining personally involved in structure, layout, and finish decisions from concept through completion. By limiting the number of homes they take on each year, they stay closely connected to budgeting, coordination, and the steady stream of decisions that shape each home.
Dale and Jessica chose this path deliberately. They did not want to build the same thing over and over. Instead, they committed to fully custom homes that require detailed collaboration throughout the process. Each project brings different property conditions, architectural priorities, and financial considerations. “Our product is fully custom from floorplan to finishes, and we work hand in hand with our customers to create the dream home they envision,” says Dale Cargile. Their responsibility is to ensure that vision is executed with structural soundness and financial discipline.

For nearly six decades, Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre has shown that Broadway-caliber musical theatre belongs right here in North Idaho. Founded in 1967, the professional regional theatre has built a reputation for delivering full-scale productions that audiences routinely describe as “better than Broadway.” That legacy continues with a 2026 season designed to surprise, inspire, and elevate expectations for what summer theatre in Coeur d’Alene can be.
The 2026 lineup features three productions, all Tony Award winners or nominees, all new to the theatre’s stage, and all regional premieres. The season opens with Disney’s Frozen The Broadway Musical, running June 26 through July 5, followed by Come From Away from July 17 through July 26.
